Packing

All compound pieces are re-enforced with fibreglass on the back.  Once manufactured, products are individually wrapped in foam sheeting and packed in styrofoam-lined wooden overseas shipping crates.  These are then filled with more foam, nailed and screwed shut, and secured with metal banding.

Upon arrival, crates are easily opened with a few tools.  Stone pieces need to be carefully un-wrapped and handled.  Flat pieces of stone need to be carried vertically -- the same way in which they have been  packaged -- in order to avoid damage.

Occasionally hairline cracks appear in the stone, due to the natural layering of stone (especailly limestone), vibrations of over-seas shipping, trucking or handling.  These are normally not visible once a properly done installation is complete.  They are best left untouched (do not glue).

See also Finishing.

Shipping

Our products are shipped from the ports of Tianjin or Shanghai, China, to Vancouver BC for Canada, or Seattle / Oakland / Long Beach / New York-New Jersey / Baltimore etc., depending on their final destination in the U.S.A.

After customs clearance, they are then transferred to truck (for BC deliveries) and delivered to the specified home site.  For non-BC and US destinations, they are shipped by train to your area (inter-modal) for customer pick-up.
